GASTRIC RESECTION
Gastric resection (removal of part of the stomach) has to be followed by an anastomosis of the stomach to the duodenum, a Billroth I procedure, or the upper part of the small intestine, a Billroth II procedure. Procedures named after the inventor, the German surgeon Dr Billroth.
Here is an example of a Billroth II procedure, which I prefer to do anterocolic (in front of the large intestine) in two layers with continuous suture lines.
