CHRONIC FRONTAL SINUSITIS
In case of chronic sinusitis of the frontal sinus the surgical procedure is in principle exactly the same as with the maxillary sinusitis. Here is a case of an empyema of the frontal sinus:
The wall of the sinus is resected and the mucosal lining removed completely
An opening into the nasal cavity is created and a tube drain inserted through the opening. The drain is sutured in place and cut short
The tube drain is kept in place for several weeks before removal
