LABORATORY
The laboratory with a staff of 6 laboratory assistants and one cleaner is giving service 24 hours around the clock to the inpatients as well as outpatients.
All routine tests are done, such as hemoglobin, white blood cell count and differential, plate count, blood grouping & cross matching, blood smear for malaria, urinary analysis, skin test for leprosy and leishmaniasis as well as testing for retrovirus (HIV/AIDS)
In 2008 a total of 33 000 tests were performed. Of these 3 860 were test for HIV (retrovirus) with 170 positive reactions – 4, 4 %.
Six years ago the incident of positive HIV tests at antenatal clinic were 0,4 %
